St Patrick’s Day fairies to remember Niall Hughes
By Kernan Andrews
NIALL HUGHES, aka Niall Rivers, who passed away
recently, will be honoured and remembered by Colours Street Theatre
Company in the St Patrick’s Day Parade.
Niall Hughes was a close friend of many artists
and local arts groups in Galway over the past 10 years. Colours’ theme
for their contribution to the parade will be ‘The Tree Fairy Dance’ -
a colourful display of tall puppets and performers dressed as tree
fairies. The theme reflects Niall’s enthusiasm for bringing fun to
people and care for the environment.
In May 2000 Niall put on the Fairy Fun Festival in
Eyre Square to highlight the need to protect trees. Some 1,000
attended. In the 2003 St Patrick’s Day Parade, Niall’s
Tree-dimensional won the prize for the best new arts group. |
